A new HQ office developmentPhoenix House has been designed to achieve a "Very Good" BREEAM rating.
BREEAM means the Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method and it comprises the world’s longest established and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. It sets the standards for best practice in sustainable development and demonstrates a high level of achievement, becoming the defacto measure of a building’s environmental performance.
Current building methods can result in high energy usage, large quantities of waste, poor occupancy comfort and low user satisfaction. BREEAM addresses these environmental impacts and offers a range of benefits to occupiers.

In addition to the benefits associated with occupying a building compliant with BREEAM, as of April 2006 the Government introduced requirements for new office developments to show a 20% improvement in carbon dioxide emissions to comply with Part L of the Building Regulations legislation. Based on the materials used and design, Phoenix House will show a further 15.75% reduction in annual carbon dioxide emissions over and above the threshold required by legislation.
